Solar Hot Water Rebates!
There are three major rebates available in Australia for the installation of Solar hot water systems.
- State Government Incentives.
- Renewable Energy Certificates.(REC’s)
- Federal Government Incentives

State Government Incentives;
Most states or local councils have incentives or directives for new and replacement hot water systems. Replacing your existing hot water system with a solar hot water system can attract up to a $2500.00 state government rebate! Contact your State Government for the exact rebates available in your state or this office for further information.
Renewable Energy Certificates;
Renewable energy certificates or REC’s as they are known are a federal government incentive. They are provided to consumers who purchase energy efficient products to encourage the reduction of carbon emissions. The certificates hold a dollar value and trade much as a share. They fluctuate depending on markets and you can follow their progress on the “Orer” website. Each registered solar hot water system in Australia is tested for it’s efficiencies and given a value, ranging from nothing up to 35 or 40 points. A certificate is allocated for each point to arrive at a dollar value for each systems efficiency. (e.g. 32 point system with REC’s trading at $43.00 = $1376.00.) This amount is awarded to the purchaser for the complete system and they have the option to keep the certificates or sell them back to the government in the form of a rebate. Federal Government Incentive;
A $1000.00 Federal Government incentive is available to individuals who earn under $100,000.00 and are replacing an existing hot water system with solar. To find out if you are eligible for this rebate visit the Federal Government website. |
